Uplift Education will be celebrating the rich history and exciting future of the Fort Worth Masonic Home at an Open House on September 20, 2012 from 10:30-11:30.
Opened in the 1890's, the Masonic Home was a school and orphanage for 100 years. Jim Dent, author of The Junction Boys, told the story of the school's unlikely football powerhouse in the 1930's and 1940's in his book, Twelve Mighty Orphans.
Mr. Dent and numerous alumni will be on hand to celebrate the facility's new direction.
Named in honor of the old program, Mighty Prep will eventually become a full K-12 college preparatory school. Grades K and 1 currently meet on the site. Mighty 6th and 7th graders have classes at nearby Meridian Prep until site restoration at Mighty is completed. Each year two new grades will be added until the school is fully enrolled.
