Uplift Education offers unique free opportunities for high school scholars to learn the skills needed to succeed in today’s most in-demand healthcare careers through Healthcare Therapeutic, Biomedical Science, Nursing, and Healthcare Operations learning pathways.

Uplift Heights Healthcare Institute, located in the Hamon Foundation building in West Dallas, is a dedicated healthcare high school that offers scholars the chance to prepare for endless opportunities in the healthcare industry. With four career pathways, scholars will be prepared for a variety of options for college and/or career.
Uplift Grand Preparatory High School offers student the opportunity to enter a nursing career pathway starting in 9th grade. The specialized career track will prepare scholars to pursue a career as a registered nurse and offer other options for careers in the healthcare field. Scholars can also choose a traditional college-prep pathway.
Career Pathways in Healthcare
Uplift Healthcare High School students take basic healthcare overview courses in 9th grade then choose career pathways in the 10th grade. These pathways, which are completed alongside their high school coursework, offer significant opportunities for scholars to prepare for and secure rewarding jobs in the healthcare field.
Biomedical Science
Courses
In addition to general healthcare courses and traditional high school courses, students will take specialized courses in:
- Biotechnology
- Biomedical Innovation
College to Career
After high school, they will be prepared for a college major such as Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM), and upon college graduation can then enter the workforce in careers including:
- Medical Laboratory Technician
- Biomedical Science
Direct to Career
If a career immediately after high school is desired, scholars graduating from an Uplift Healthcare High school will be prepared and certified for jobs such as:

FAQs
Each of the pathways offers scholars a range of future careers. Below are a few examples of patient and non-patient careers and estimated salaries that our scholars will have an opportunity to pursue depending on which pathway they choose and when they decide to join the workforce.
For those joining the workforce directly after high school:
- $35,000 - Certified Medical Assistant (patient) | Medical Records Technician and Billing Specialist (non-patient)
- $45,000 - Licensed Vocational Nurse (patient) | Forensic Science Technician (non-patient)
- $75,000 - Dental Hygienist (patient) | Purchasing Agent (non-patient)
For those who plan to join the workforce after college (4 years, 2 years, and graduate studies):
- $85,000 - Registered Nurse (patient) | Transportation, Storage, and Distribution Managers (non-patient)
- $120,000 - Nurse Practitioner (patient) | Purchasing and Supply Chain Managers (non-patient)

Through Uplift scholar career surveys, scholars identified healthcare as one of their top 3 industries of interest. Additionally, according to a Texas Workforce Commission Labor Market analysis, the demand for all healthcare occupations is expected to grow at a much faster rate than all occupations combined. Recent projections indicate employment in Healthcare Occupations will grow 18.4 % by 2028, adding more than 190,000 new jobs.
No, at this time Uplift does not provide transportation to and from school. Families and scholars are responsible for their own transportation to and from school.
Families of scholars currently enrolled in Uplift schools are eligible for transfers to another Uplift school where we have open seats.

- Complete an application indicating their first preference for their desired Uplift school to transfer.
- Note: If a family has multiple scholars that they are interested in moving, they will need to fill out a separate application per scholar (being sure to use the same parent email in each application).
- Note: We highly encourage families to tell us their top three preferences should there be no open seats at their first-choice school.
- Transfer students will be given preference in the lottery on February 1st. Applications after the lottery will be given seats based on open seats available on a rolling basis.
Uplift Healthcare High Schools will provide services for English Learners. Individual LPACs (Language Proficiency Assessment Committees) will make recommendations about the most appropriate services for each scholar.
