Uplift Summit Scholars Are Reading & Riding

Uplift Summit’s library has books of all shapes and sizes, but they also have an innovative way to increase reading engagement.

Librarian Tonja Tate and Teacher Assistant Imelda Gutierrez have spearheaded a program called Reading Wheels. This past August, Fit Desk bikes were installed in the secondary library at Uplift Summit.

Scholars have the opportunity to read while exercising which stimulates both their brain and their body. This has led to scholars wanting to spend more time in the library, and thanks to the adjustable desk, scholars are able to use their Chromebook while riding as well.
