New Tackle Football Program Coming to Oak Cliff / Southern Dallas

Uplift Education, the largest public charter network in DFW, is thrilled to announce the addition of American tackle football to its current lineup of athletic offerings.

The program will be launched in the Oak Cliff / Southern Dallas community and will play home games on the brand-new turf field at Uplift Hampton in Southern Dallas.

Join Us for a Free Football Skills Camp

For students interested in playing tackle football in 2025-26 for Uplift Education, please plan to attend one or both of our free skills camps on November 16th and November 23rd.

Who: Students currently in the 6th through 10th grade.
5th grade students will have a separate skills camp in the spring.

When:
Saturday, November 16, 10:00 a.m. – Noon
Saturday, November 23, 10:00 a.m. – Noon

Students may attend one or both camps.

Where: Uplift Hampton Preparatory
8915 S. Hampton Road, Dallas, TX 75232

What to Wear: Comfortable, weather-appropriate athletic clothing and shoes. No football pads are required.

What to Bring: Water bottle

Brandon Carr to Lead Program

Former Dallas Cowboy Brandon Carr will be joining the Uplift community as Senior Director of Network Athletics and will also serve as Uplift Hampton’s Head Football Coach. Coach Carr spent 13 years as a cornerback in the NFL playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Dallas Cowboys.  Coach Carr was a three-time nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award that recognizes one player from each NFL team that best exemplifies service to their community. 

While known for having the most game starts in his NFL career for a non-quarterback position, Coach Carr has had an even bigger impact through his Carr Cares Foundation, started in 2012, which focuses on literacy, youth physical fitness, and free breast cancer screenings.

Coach Carr attended Grand Valley State University where he competed on two National Championship teams.  Coach Carr is originally from Flint, Michigan and grew up in a family of educators.  Since retiring from the NFL, Coach Carr has been an assistant coach for Prestonwood Christian Academy while also coaching local and national youth football teams.  

Coach Carr is excited to join the Uplift family and build out scholar-athletes who excel in the classroom and on the field and are prepared to be leaders in college, life, and their community.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Uplift tackle football season will begin in the fall of 2025.

Uplift Hampton (8915 S. Hampton Road Dallas, TX 75232) will have a high school team and a middle school team. Uplift Wisdom (301 W. Camp Wisdom Rd. Dallas, TX 75232) will have a middle school team, and possibly a high school team if there are enough interested players.

All home games will be played at the Uplift Hampton field.

All tackle football teams will play in TCSAAL (TEXAS CHARTER SCHOOL ACADEMIC & ATHLETIC LEAGUE) their first year. We plan to grow into UIL over time.

All middle school and high school students enrolled at Uplift Hampton or Uplift Wisdom for the 2025-26 school year.

Our goal is not to have tryouts but to give as many students as possible the opportunity to learn, grow, and earn playing time.

No experience is required for students to participate in our football program.

Yes, for the 2025-26 school year. Students at other Uplift schools can apply to transfer to one of these schools for the 2025-26 school year. Students not currently enrolled at an Uplift Education school can apply at www.uplifteducation.org/apply. It’s free to apply and free to attend! Apply before February 1st to be included in our lottery.
