Aerospace Engineering, built into four years of IB learning

Beginning in 9th grade, scholars build a strong foundation in both International Baccalaureate learning and STEM identity. As they progress, they apply those skills through engineering coursework, drones, coding, and real-world challenges. In 11th and 12th grades, scholars move into S-Cubed, a two-year aerospace engineering experience developed with the Aldrin Family Foundation that brings satellite science, payload integration, design review, launch preparation, and capstone presentation work into the high school experience.

This pathway ensures scholars don’t just learn STEM concepts—they apply IB thinking to real aerospace challenges, building the skills needed for college, credentials, and future careers.

What Scholars Experience By Grade

This pathway is designed to grow with scholars over four years—combining IB academic rigor with hands-on aerospace engineering experience to build confidence, technical skills, and future readiness.

9th Grade

Scholars begin with Principles of Applied Engineering, Algebra I or Geometry, and hands-on learning through robotics, coding, and engineering design. Along the way, they build IB skills like inquiry, reflection, and problem-solving—creating a strong STEM foundation and beginning to see themselves as engineers.

10th Grade

Scholars deepen their learning through Engineering Science or Robotics, Chemistry or Physics, drones, CAD design, Arduino coding, site visits, and job shadowing. They apply IB skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and analysis to real engineering challenges and industry pathways.

11th Grade

Scholars enter the Aldrin Family Foundation S-Cubed experience through Aerospace Engineering coursework and advanced STEM learning. Year 1 focuses on satellite science, coding, lab safety, and mission-based learning, including a high-altitude balloon launch for data collection. They apply IB problem-solving in real-world engineering environments.

12th Grade

In the final year, scholars complete capstone projects, launch and recovery experiences, and presentations. They apply advanced engineering concepts and IB skills—communication, reflection, and analysis—while designing, testing, and presenting payloads to community and industry audiences.
